FMA Works With Florida Rx Card

(Tallahassee, FL) – The Florida Medical Association (FMA) is working closely with Florida Rx Card to distribute free discount prescription cards to help uninsured and underinsured patients afford their prescription medications.

Patients who don't have insurance or who take prescription drugs that aren't covered by their health insurance plans can use the Florida Rx Card to obtain discounts of up to 80 percent off the retail price for brand and generic FDA-approved medications.

"The FMA is proud to work with Florida Rx Card to educate patients about this free statewide prescription assistance program," said Timothy J. Stapleton, FMA Executive Vice President.

The program can also be used by people who have health insurance coverage with no prescription benefits, which is common in many health savings accounts (HSA) and high deductible health plans.

Florida Rx Card is accepted at over 56,000 participating regional and national pharmacies.

"We strongly believe that this is an easy and innovative way to help the residents of Florida find affordable prescription options," said Florida Rx Card Program Development Director Brandon Knox.

Physicians may encourage patients to print a free Florida Rx Card at www.flmedical.org or www.FloridaRxCard.com. Florida Rx Card is also available as an app for iPhone and Android by searching "Free Rx iCard" in the app store. Physicians may order free cards by emailing Brandon Knox, Florida Rx Card Program Development Director, at bknox@floridarxcard.com.
